God Loves a Cheerful Giver

When it comes to church and money, people get very uneasy and tend to shy away from the discussion altogether.  I just don't understand this.  Jesus talked about money all the time!  In fact, 15% of everything Jesus ever taught was on the topic of money and possessions.  God feels so strongly about how we should handle our money, that there are over 2,000 verses in the Bible on the topic.  So if you're thinking about fundraising for your church, rest assured, God's got your back.

Remember:  If you're looking for a way to fund something at church, God's plan is already in motion.  Now you just need to get some other people in on the fun!  The best part is that it's totally a win-win all around.  If you need proof, just look to 2 Corinthians 9:

6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9 As it is written, "He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever."  10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

When we sow money into God's work, we reap so much more than we could have ever done on our own.   Not only that, but God promises to bless the sower by "multiplying your seed for sowing".  So not only will the money go to fund the mission that God has already set in motion in your church, but He's saying that He will provide those who donate with more resources so that they are able to continue giving to fund more of His work in the future.  Pretty awesome if you ask me!

So if you're thinking about raising funds for something at your church, remember that it's so much more than just reaching a financial goal:  It's about following God's Word so that His will can be done.  God wants us to be a part of a culture where we joyfully give to fund the great work that He's trying to do in our lives, our churches, our communities and the world.  So be the one in your community to step out in faith and ask others to be a part of creating a culture of giving that will allow the glory of God to be witnessed as he supplies and multiplies beyond what you could have possibly done without Him.  God <3s a Cheerful Giver
