Retreats Aren't Just for Kids!

By Courtney

When you hear the word retreat, often times you think about youth retreats or youth camps.  But retreats don't necessarily mean they are just for kids.  Everyone needs to go on a retreat every now and then.   Today I would like to talk about women's retreats and some of the activities you can plan to make a retreat a true get away for your group.

First start your retreat off with some ice breakers.  Some of your ladies may know each other, but I guarantee that they don't know everyone in your group.

Allow time for self discovery. A great way to do this is by adding adventure recreation into your retreat. Team building activities are great for allowing your group to discover what is keeping them from reaching their full potential.  For example, many women face a lack of confidence in themselves.  These activities are set-up to help them believe in themselves and learn to achieve the accomplishments that their hearts desire.

Give them the opportunity to network with other ladies. Going on a retreat can allow the ladies in your church to get to know others that they may not have an opportunity outside of church to interact with. Getting all your ladies in one place at one time allows friendships to grow. This in return provides a great support group in your church.

Get outdoors! Going outside can prove to be a life-changing experience. It allows your group to reconnect with the beauty of nature.  Allow time for your ladies to take a walk on trails, go biking, or even just go for a swim in the pool.

Retreats are about getting away from the everyday grind and reconnecting with God.  No matter what activities you plan for your women's retreats, remember to allow time for them to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually.

What activites have you planned for a women's retreat?
