New Year, New You

For many, the start of a new year brings the thought of making a New Year’s resolution. Some people succeed at keeping it all year long, while others do not make it past January 1st. Typically, when someone sets a resolution, it revolves around physical health. For example, losing weight, eating healthier or exercising. Have you made your New Year’s resolution yet?

What if this year, you make a resolution that enriches more than your physical health? Now, I am not saying that setting a goal to become healthier is a bad thing. Striving to improve your physical health is always a good goal to have. However, have you thought about improving your spiritual health?

In 1 Timothy 4:8 (NIV), it states that “for physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

Take a step back and examine your spiritual health. On a scale from 1 to 10, where does it rank? No matter where you think you may fall on the spectrum, there is always room for improvement.

This year, I challenge you to not only improve your physical health but to also improve your spiritual health. Yes, it is okay to have more than one New Year’s resolution. Not sure where to begin? Keep an eye out for next week’s blog for helpful tips and ideas on how to improve your spiritual health with some “exercises” that will help you stay on track all year long.
