We often talk about the effects that off-site ministry can have on someone’s life.  Maybe they get baptized, find their ministry calling, or make a ton of new friends.  Anything can happen!  And as camp season draws closer, I can’t help but think of all the moments that will happen this summer.  But in my reflection, I have realized that we never talk about how it affects the staff.  There’s no denying that the superheroes of camp are the ones that work it.  However, we often overlook what the experience holds for them. 

So, we questioned some kids and teen camp staff members about the ways in which this work has changed their lives, as well as the reasons why they chose to start and keep coming back.  Here’s some of the responses:

“From being a camper to then being able to serve at the place that helped me find a deeper relationship with God!  It’s hard work, friendships you will keep forever, and a time in my life I will never forget!” - Aislinn

“Every year the saying is: ‘This is my last year.’ or ‘No, I am not coming back.’ And then you’re 4 years deep as a returner.  I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I did!” - Bre

Summer camp is such an amazing experience for everyone involved.  Whether you are thinking about going as a guest or a staff member, you will be affected by summer camp!
