Valuable Time

Father’s Day.

The one day a year that is set aside to honor those who have loved, raised and sacrificed for their children. So, how will you honor your father this Sunday? Some shower their fathers with presents and cards. If you don’t have a present yet, it’s okay. There may be something your father would like more than another “World’s Best Dad” t-shirt. Do you know what it is?

Time. That’s right, time with you.

Now, I am not saying that buying your dad a present for Father’s Day is a bad idea, I still need to wrap mine. But even though I know that my dad will love his gift, what matters the most to him is spending time together. Because like children, time is a precious gift from God. So, instead of just mailing a card or dropping off a gift, actually spend time with your dad on Father’s Day. Even if you only have dinner together or just sit around a campfire, make your dad a priority.

However, your earthly father is not the only one who would like to spend time with you. In the Bible, God calls us to spend uninterrupted, one-on-one time with him.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:6

So, this Father’s Day, not only spend one-on-one time with your earthly father, but also your heavenly father.
