The merits of youth camp are undeniable. Camp provides a transformative experience for kids -- fostering personal growth, building friendships, and instilling valuable life skills. However, the financial burden of sending a child to camp can be a daunting challenge for many families and organizations.
Often, parents find themselves at the beginning of summer, contemplating if their child has outgrown summer camp. Having a teenager who can drive doesn't necessarily mean they're too grown-up for church camp. In fact, they might even appreciate the camp experience more now than when they were children.
Sometimes, a theme will jump right out at you; other times, nothing seems quite right—prayer to the rescue. If you struggle to identify a theme, schedule a small group meeting and invite your steering committee team. Pray and reflect on the goals you wish to accomplish this summer. Allow God to guide you as you choose a meaningful and impactful theme.
